Pattaya Baht Bus
A baht bus will often toot there horn as they pass by, this generally means "do you want me to stop" you can ignore this or shake your head NO! or if you do need them to stop for you, then just hold your hand up, and they will pull over for you to jump in the back. Never go to the driver and ask how much to go somewhere, if its just up the road he would most probably say 100 baht when you could of just jumped on board for 10 baht, before jumping on you can do some sort of hand signal to the driver signifying that you want to go straight up this road and for them not to turn off, the driver will nod there head yes or no. If for some reason you are on a baht bus and they go pass your turning then simply get off pay the driver and then get on another baht bus that's going to your preferred direction. As you approach where you want to get off, press the buzzer button, this is usually above your head and the driver will stop. Then get out walk to the front of the Baht Bus (passenger side) and pay the driver. Always make sure you have the correct fare. If you give him 100 baht, he may drive off without giving you any change. You can easily book a baht bus for a day trip to go outside off Pattaya, just tell a driver you would like to book them, they will be very pleased to help you with that service, but negotiate the price with a few drivers so you can get a better understanding, some times when you start to walk away from a driver its then you could get a better price, and also if they can sense that its your first time in Pattaya, then they will definitely try it on (charge considerably more).
I have seen someone book a baht bus for the very same day, the driver then gets everyone off the baht bus and onto another one, no problem really for the passengers, I have myself been in that situation where I had to get off the baht bus and onto another one, the first time it happens you don't know whats going on.
